But employment is wonderful!
Good news everyone! I found a job… that I love! The bad news is the past few months of transition (I’ve relocated) has really slowed down my project schedule. I’m staying with a friend and I brought about 70% of my supplies but I don’t have a lot of time for crafting. Between working, apartment-hunting (which sucks), and all the driving (every other weekend I drive to my old home to see my husband and our furbabies) there’s little time for any fun stuff. Hopefully by the end of June we’ll be set up in a new place (hopefully with a craft/sewing room!) and I can get back on track.
I miss my sewing machine.
Unemployment sucks.
Let me tell you something that’s as true as the sky is blue: job hunting will vacuum the creativity right out of you. It’s gone. Completely gone. I can’t make a card, design a quilt, or take apart a necklace. Also, I feel as if every moment I spend not looking for a job or not reformatting or rewriting my resume and cover letter is time wasted. I’m getting farther away from my career and what I love to do. Not to mention a paycheck. I shouldn’t be sketching, stamping and glueing. I should be applying, applying, applying. I’ll be honest, I made a card last Friday but it took me hours and I didn’t have that feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. I had an interview last Thursday and I believe it went well… cross your fingers! I just know once I start working I’m going to be flooded with ideas. I’d love to start making again!!
It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything besides an Etsy Treasury. Inspiration has been lacking and the job hunt has been brutal. Alas, that’s a topic for another day.
My best friend did something wonderful for me a couple of days ago and I was inspired by her kindness, that of her co-workers and their friends, to create these thank you cards. I really wanted to create a series inspired by the color wheel too. However, aligning them properly was proving to be a problem. The “muchas gracias” stamp is the old school wooden type that doesn’t allow you to see where you are placing it. I’ll try it with one of my clear stamps and I’m sure the result will be beautiful.
Muchas gracias for stopping by ScarlettInk!
